Russ Sheppard

Russ Sheppard graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Education in 1998. From there, he moved to the remote Nunavut community of Kugluktuk where he lived and taught for the next 7 years. During his time in Kugluktuk, Russ spearheaded the development of the Kugluktuk Grizzlies, a stay-in-school movement that integrated sport, school and life. For this work, Russ received the Business Development Bank of Canada Youth Entrepreneur of the Year Award, an Excellence in Teaching Award, as well as winning the Sport Nunavut Contributor of the Year and Coach of the Year Awards. Currently, Russ is finishing his Law degree at the University of Alberta.
